EDO Corporation designs and manufactures a diverse range of products for defense, intelligence, and commercial markets. EDO’s overall goal was to educate the acquisition chain from the Operator to the Procurement Officer about SEPS. The key challenges faced by EDO were the varying degrees of knowledge and understanding among the acquisition chain and the amount of time typically required to educate them. 


The SEPS program had been approved for a $200 million contract but was then shelved at the start of the war in Iraq. The solution to reauthorizing the project came in the form of a digital story created by Heartwood Studios. Using a combination of live video footage, visual effects and 3D, Heartwood Studios created a cinematic movie of SEPS highlighting its life-saving technology, available variants and deployment capabilities.  


The cinematic movie enabled EDO to tell the story of SEPS efficiently and with greater understanding in under three minutes. The SEPS project has been reauthorized and is currently being used by the US military. Additional benefits to EDO are using the piece as part of a RFP or as a leave behind for potential clients.
